Stewart - Managing Director

Stewart Thompson

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Stewart is the founder of Staunton Rook, having established the business in 2004 following an impressive career spanning over 45 years. With deep roots in Direct Marketing, Stewart developed a sharp understanding of customer behaviour and the power of measurable results – a discipline that continues to shape the way Staunton Rook delivers campaigns to this day. His approach has always been simple yet effective: under promise and over deliver. It’s a philosophy that has earned him the trust of clients across the UK, reflected in the fact that over 80% of the company’s turnover comes from repeat business.

As the driving force behind Staunton Rook’s growth and reputation, Stewart has built the agency on a foundation of integrity, creativity, and results-driven thinking. His leadership has nurtured a strong company culture where strategic thinking and client relationships go hand in hand. Stewart remains actively involved in the business, offering insight and guidance across projects and continuing to champion the measurable marketing approach that first inspired him all those years ago.

Away from the office, Stewart is a classic car enthusiast and the proud owner of a Morgan Roadster – a vehicle he lovingly maintains himself. Whether he’s in the garage fine-tuning the engine or out enjoying a drive through the British countryside, Stewart finds joy in craftsmanship and quality – values that also reflect in his professional life. His attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and genuine passion for the industry continue to influence the Staunton Rook team and the way the agency operates.

Rachael Account Director

Rachael Battersby

GROUP ACCOUNT DIRECTOR LLB, CIM

Rachael brings over 20 years of marketing expertise to Staunton Rook and plays a central role in leading both the Creative and Account Management teams. Holding a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, she combines strategic insight with a hands-on approach to ensure every client brief is delivered with precision, creativity, and purpose. Rachael’s leadership is defined by her ability to develop clear, results-focused marketing strategies that not only meet client objectives but consistently exceed expectations.

Her attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service has earned her the trust of a wide-ranging client base across multiple sectors. From campaign planning and brand development to project delivery and performance analysis, Rachael is deeply involved at every stage – ensuring seamless execution and impactful outcomes. She is known for her calm, considered approach and her ability to juggle multiple projects without ever compromising on quality.

Rachael’s natural ability to build strong client relationships and her passion for creative problem-solving make her an invaluable part of the Staunton Rook leadership team. Her influence helps ensure the agency remains both commercially astute and creatively ambitious.

Outside of work, Rachael enjoys spending quality time with her two children, Hugo and Darcey, as well as their family dog, Hudson. She loves to travel, and whether she’s discovering new destinations or revisiting family favourites, her perfect downtime often involves good food, a glass of wine, and lively conversation with friends.

Mark Graphic Designer

Mark Roberts

STUDIO MANAGER

Mark leads our design studio with over 25 years of experience in the creative industry, bringing a wealth of expertise across both digital and traditional marketing channels. As a multi-disciplined designer, he has worked on everything from high-impact websites and social campaigns to print advertising, packaging, and brand identity systems.

With a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of brand integrity, Mark will personally oversee the design elements of your project. He ensures that every visual asset aligns with your brand guidelines and communicates your message clearly and consistently – no matter the medium.

Mark’s calm, considered approach and creative problem-solving make him an invaluable part of the team, particularly when delivering campaigns that require both speed and precision.

Outside the studio, Mark’s passions lie in music and film. You’ll often find him crate-digging for the latest vinyl releases, catching the newest cinema releases from seat E6 at his local Odeon, or enjoying live gigs (usually by the bar) at the Manchester Academy.

Archie - Marketing Business Development

Archie Thompson

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Archie plays a pivotal role at Staunton Rook, operating at the forefront of our business. He is responsible for managing all new client relationships, guiding them seamlessly through the onboarding process, and laying the groundwork for partnerships that are built to last. Archie’s approachable nature and strategic insight make him a trusted first point of contact for clients, setting the tone for the collaborative journey ahead.

With extensive experience in business growth strategy across a diverse range of industries, Archie brings a well-rounded commercial mindset to every project. His expertise spans the full marketing spectrum – from digital campaigns and product development to brand positioning and customer experience. This allows him to identify opportunities for growth and tailor marketing strategies that deliver measurable results.

Archie’s ability to quickly understand a client’s needs and translate them into actionable marketing solutions is a key part of our success – helping businesses not only grow, but thrive.

Outside of work, Archie enjoys long countryside walks with his beloved Dachshunds, Maple and Bear. He also dedicates time to supporting local businesses, offering his knowledge and guidance on the power of marketing to drive meaningful change.

Karen - Account Manager

Karen Fletcher

CLIENT ACCOUNTS MANAGER

Karen plays a central role in client services at Staunton Rook and, alongside her team, will be your dedicated point of contact throughout your partnership with us. With several years of experience in customer relationship roles, Karen is committed to building strong, professional relationships and ensuring a smooth, responsive service from day one.

She oversees the day-to-day management of client accounts, coordinating everything from project timelines and studio briefs to social media schedules and campaign research. Her attention to detail and proactive communication style mean clients are always kept informed and confident in the progress of their projects.

Karen takes great pride in making sure every element of delivery is handled seamlessly, and that all work is aligned with your goals and expectations. Whether it’s proofreading key documents, coordinating creative assets or bringing new campaign ideas to the table, Karen is there to make sure everything runs effortlessly.

Outside of Staunton Rook, Karen is a busy mum of two and the designated travel planner for her family. Whether it’s chasing the sun, hitting the ski slopes or heading off on a caravanning adventure, she loves making memories with her family whenever she can.

James - Exhibition Co-ordinator

James Battersby

EXHIBITION OPERATIONS MANAGER

James is our Exhibition Operations Manager and the key figure behind the successful delivery of our exhibition stands across the UK and beyond. With a background as a time-served maintenance engineer, James combines hands-on technical expertise with precision planning – ensuring every exhibition build is completed on time, on spec, and to the highest standard, no matter the location.

From logistics and installation to onsite coordination, James oversees the entire exhibition process. His calm, capable approach and attention to detail ensure that each project runs smoothly, with no surprises along the way. Clients can rely on James to bring their event space to life exactly as envisioned, with his trademark mix of reliability, dedication, and energy.

James is a problem-solver at heart and brings the same commitment to excellence to every event, whether it’s a small-scale trade show or a large national exhibition. He takes pride in meeting our exacting standards – and exceeding client expectations along the way.

Outside of work, James is never far from a hands-on project and is known among friends and family as the go-to fixer. When he’s not working on his latest challenge, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, exploring good food, and unwinding with a well-earned glass of red wine.
